The
Experience

Guarded by trees and birds, lording it over meadows and lanes, this rambling ‘castle’ with its 18th-century tower has a charmingly lived-in feel. Lovely laid-back Miranda and Dominic make you feel at home; help yourself to cereals while they drum up your bacon and eggs, enjoy the flower-filled terrace, play croquet or use their pool and tennis court (by arrangement). Bedrooms, sitting room and hall are decked out with pretty wallpapers, antiques, art, rugs and throws; one of the twins has a tiny shower room; log fires keep things toasty. And if you’re hankering after a real castle, Sissinghurst and Leeds are down the road.

Reviews

A great friend and I wanted to spend time just being us, I stumbled across Romden Castle on the internet and I must say it was one of my favourite stumbles to date. Miranda and Dominic are perfectly eccentric and incredibly accommodating. They are exceptionally friend though non invasive. My friend and I felt we were staying at a friends country manor. Some people prefer your very adequate and predictable 'well known overnight Hotel/Motel. I would stay here over and over just to get to know the family. Even the cat was fun ! We found you in the dark and we would again Thank you

Gosh what a lovely place. Brilliant welcome. Indulgent room with beautiful view of a lake and mature trees. Yummy quality breakfast. Spacious house. Real fire. Gracious host. Interesting art. Books..This place has everything with added warm hearted hosts.

This was quite probably the best B&B we have ever been to. It is in beautiful countryside, and is so, so quiet. There is a lovely swimming pool, the view from the bedroom was lovely, the bed was comfy, the shower was powerful, and (last but not least) there was Colman's mustard for breakfast! Miranda and Dominic made us feel most at home. The only downside ... we don't know when we'll get a chance to go back!

Peter, London

Super 4 night stay. Large, booklined comfortable room. Stylish in Grand Shabby mode. Dominic cooks fabulous fried eggs. and was generally a marvellous host. Jams numerous and delicious.

Glorious stay at Romden Castle. Beautiful settings, outstanding facilities (such a treat to take a dip in the pool and play a game of tennis) and an incredibly warm and hospitable family. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to the coach house which made the stay even more special. Nothing was too much trouble for Miranda and Dominic from advising where to go out to the delicious homemade and healthy breakfasts. Stunning country walks from the doorstep and great pubs en route! We're staying again shortly! Highly recommended. .

Sarah, Twickenham

Lovely log fires, warm bedroom and delicious breakfast. Such a peaceful and interesting place to stay.

Vanessa, Poole, dorset

Romden was just what we were looking for....relaxed, laid back. Miranda and her family were very hospitable. Breakfast was a delight as well as walks nearby. Thank you!
