Romden Coach House

Ashford, Kent

Homely self-catering with an air of grandeur in the grounds of the owners' castle. In rural Kent where gardens & NT houses abound

5 bedrooms

Sleeps 8

The Kellys have been running B&B from their castle for years so they are dab hands at welcoming guests. Now they’ve converted an old coach house in the grounds into a homely, book and art-filled, comfortable space for families to gather. There’s plenty of room for everyone to spread out and unbend: squishy sofas in front of an open fire, a kitchen that invites you to whip up feasts with a large table for convivial dining, a ‘secret’ games room with table tennis, a dressing up box for little ones, a pony to pet. Rugs on wooden floors, exposed brick and beams and cheery curtains complete the look. Upstairs to five bedrooms, a mix of double/twin/single and a bunk room, all with long country views. You get your own lawned gardens front and back, with terrace and barbecue stuff, and Miranda’s happy for you to wander her gardens and use the tennis court and pool by arrangement. You’re in the heart of Kent, hidden down winding lanes, but close to gardens and stately homes: Sissinghurst, Leeds Castle, Smallhythe. Rye, Canterbury and Whitstable aren’t far either.
