The
Experience

The timbers of this medieval yeoman’s house are quite possibly a thousand years old. Little of the structure has ever been altered and it is sheer delight. Stone floors, rich colours, a piano, books, cosy chairs, friendly dog – all give a homely, lived-in warm feel. Cruck-beamed bedrooms are snugly small, the stairs are steep, and the twin’s bathroom has its own sweet fireplace. The countryside is ‘pure’, too, with 1,500 acres of National Trust land a short hop away. Anita is charming, loves to look after her guests, grows her own fruit and vegetables and makes fabulous dinners. Just mind your head.

Reviews

I stayed in the single room which was deliciously comfortable and incredibly quiet. Anita serves the best breakfasts of local bacon, fresh eggs with dark yellow yolks, toasted homebaked bread and proper coffee. A great place to stay

Nicola, Bristol

We had a wonderful couple of days in a beautiful home in a delightful hamlet. Nothing was too much trouble for Anita and she made our stay a home from home. Breakfast was excellent and locally sourced, with bread and jams all home made. Hope it will not be too long before we can make a return visit.

Michael, Ropsley

Such a sweet, quiet hamlet and a beautifully beamed and flag-stoned house brimming with interesting things, including lots of books. Bedrooms are old-fashioned comfortable, views are glorious and Anita is a treasure making one feel very much at home and at peace. Breakfast is delicious and locally-sourced, bread and marmalade homemade.
