Wren House

Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire
Bed & Breakfast

Built before the English Civil War, a charming B&B with elegantly renovated rooms, far-reaching rural views and locally sourced breakfasts

3 rooms

Rooms sleep 2

Barely two miles from Stow-on-the-Wold, this peaceful house sits charmingly on the edge of a tiny hamlet. It was built before the English Civil War and Kiloran spent two years stylishly renovating it; the results are a joy. Downstairs, light-filled, elegant rooms with glowing rugs on pale Cotswold stone; upstairs, delicious bedrooms, spotless bathrooms and a doorway to duck. Breakfast in the vaulted kitchen is locally sourced and organic, where possible, and the well-planted garden, in which you are encouraged to sit, has far-reaching views. Explore rolling valleys and glorious gardens; Kiloran can advise.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Mrs Kiloran McGrigor

  • You're right in the heart of the prettiest bit of the North Cotswolds with all the honey stone villages and rolling countryside at your fingertips. And your evening's rest is in a house classic of the Cotswolds area, internally modernised for comfort.
  • You are just a few miles from the award-winning Daylesford Organic Farm Shop and Spa. Daylesford breads are served for breakfast, Cacklebean eggs and Holmleigh Dairy Donnington milk. Try Kiloran's Organic Seville marmalade now sold in Finns of London.
  • Dine at some of the best gastro-pubs in the part of the world - Wild Rabbit, Kingham; The Hare Milton under Wychwood; Feathered Nest, Church Westcote; The Plough, Kingham; The Wheatsheaf, Northleach; Churchill, Paxford. See Dining Out on website.
  • You are very close to lovely Cotswold gardens, houses and castles. Gardens of Bourton House, Hidcote, Kiftsgate and Bourton House and special private gardens; to properties Snowshill, Chastelton, Charlecote, Blenheim Palace, Upton House, Coughton Court.
  • Kiloran has a wealth of information on the area and can advise on your particular itinerary be it houses, which gardens are at their best/open, walks to suit your interests/ability, where to eat, where to drive, where to shop - your own special itinerary.
  • And on top of all of this, some of the most comfortable beds you will find in any B&B -everyone says so! Wake to birdsong and a delicious breakfast (in the garden when warm). Enjoy lovely country views, Wren House gardens, great dog and a warm welcome.
