The Experience

Families with young children can spread out and if you’re a bigger party there’s a connecting door to The Apple Store so you’ll have room for 10. The open plan sitting room and kitchen are light and bright with a door to the courtyard garden and an extra snug/study on the other side of the see-through log-burner. The kitchen is filled with beautiful things and all the equipment you need – cook from scratch on the Aga with organic food from the farm shop. The restaurant is just next door if you prefer to be cooked for.

Find bikes outside and a map for a cycle along a designated track to Daylesford’s sister pub The Wild Rabbit in Kingham. There are plenty of other footpaths to walk. Return to much comfort, plenty of books and board games or a DVD on the flat screen with the log-burner roaring away. You’ll find good stuff in the welcome pack: gin, wine, nibbles and fresh organic produce from the creamery and bakery.

Cottage guests get a discount at the shop, the spa and the courses in cookery and floristry, so book in a massage or yoga class, learn to bake artisan bread or learn to arrange home-grown flowers from the cutting garden.

Reviews

Perfect for a small family or two couples who need to switch off. Everything is here for you when you arrive so it will be tempting to do nothing, but you can book on a cookery, butchery, floristry or baking course, do yoga or have a massage at the spa. The food in the deli and shop is all organic and as much as possible home grown or home reared.

Location

The neighbourhood

Once you're here you probably won't want to budge - it's that sort of place. You're surrounded by over two thousand acres of organic farm and much of what is reared or grown here you can buy or eat. There are cookery courses running all year such as artisan breadmaking, nose to tail butchery, ferments to eat and drink or how to make quick and simple suppers. Floristry courses and workshops use flowers from the cutting garden. You can practise yoga, pilates and meditation or book a massage at the Bamford Haybarn Spa. Pedal off on free bikes down plenty of footpaths, walk for miles, visit lovely Cotswold villages. For a change of scene The Feathered Nest at Nether Westcote is a good pub.

Local points of interest from Daylesford

  • Our cottages are 27 miles from the university collages in Oxford, 17 miles from the historical house and gardens of Blenheim Palace, and 25 miles from the shopping emporium at Bicester Village, so there is plenty to keep you occupied.
  • Daylesford cottage guests are able to discover all we have to offer in our farmshop, at our Cookery School, Floristry Workshop, the Bamford Barn and Haybarn Spa and enjoy a 10% discount during their stay.
  • Beautiful Cotswold countryside surrounds our cottages.
  • During the growing season, the flowers in our cottages are picked from the organic Cutting Garden next to our Market Garden. For the colder months, enjoy the warmth of our open fires, with logs from the farm where more trees are planted than harvested.
  • In our bathrooms you will find the Bamford Bath & Body collection, made with naturally sourced and, wherever possible, certified organic ingredients.
  • We are spoilt for choice with antiques and farmers markets in the neighbouring towns. Not to mention the Moreton-in-Marsh market, the largest street market in the Cotswolds where you will find everything from fresh produce to homeware and books.
