This old rectory is a lovely informal place to stay for a group of friends or family. There’s an elegant drawing room for tea or drinks, a snug with books and TV and a big garden to wander. Bedrooms have good linen and natural colours; hop up more stairs to the two in the attic; you share a bathroom, and sometimes there’s an extra one you can use. Charlie serves Aga-cooked breakfasts in the friendly family kitchen – a large, airy room with garden views and sofas round a wood-burner; she’s happy to do suppers and children’s teas too. You can join the Thames Path from the village; Westonbirt, Gatcombe, Cheltenham all nearby.
