Bed & Breakfast

You're near to all in the so-called Royal South Cotswolds! Find B&B with deep herbaceous borders, wonderful trees and long country views

2 rooms

Rooms sleep 2 – 4

Another classic old Cotswold house set in pretty countryside, but with unique character thanks to Giles and Amanda who spent many years in California and have now returned to the family home. Your rooms are on the top floor – both newly done up and neat as a pin with thick cream carpets, heavy floral fabrics, windows with views and comfortable chairs (no guest sitting room). Breakfast is a flexible affair, includes full English with eggs from their own hens and is taken at one long mahogany table. Wander a small wood with mown paths, head off for antiques in Tetbury, gardens at Highgrove, polo at Cirencester.

We stayed for 4 nights at Lowfield farm and we enjoyed it very much! Amanda is the perfect host, the house has a nice feel with comfortable rooms and a stylish bathroom with bath and good shower. Breakfast, prepared on the AGA, was delicious. Lowfield farm has breathtaking views and there are lots of walking possibilities around the house. Amanda suggested to book a visit to Highgrove - there was a special event at Valentine's Day - which was unforgettable. We would love to come back!

We had a really lovely couple of days at this beautiful and sumptuous farmhouse, set in gorgeous Cotswold countryside. Amanda and Giles are wonderful hosts, who made us feel at home, looked-after, and indulged - plying my sister with vitamins and remedies for her cold, and welcoming us back from a long, cold walk with tea, cake and biscuits in front of the fire. Everything about our stay was luxurious: the feather-soft beds, the sauna, the delicious breakfasts and the beautiful interior decor, to name a few. Thank you, Amanda and Giles, for your generosity and kindness towards us.

I chose Lowfield Farm because the house looked lovely, near Tetbury yet right in the country and we were not disappointed. It's a charming house with big comfortable bedrooms and a glamorous bathroom (with sauna) between. It's so well placed as it's near pretty Tetbury and close enough to the Potting Shed for a wonderful dinner in a delightful pub. We had a delicious breakfast too with everything you could possibly want, including excellent sausages, mushrooms & sourdough bread. We couldn't have enjoyed it more.

Amanda and Giles were the perfect hosts and couldn't have done more. Quintessential English, with their little jack russel terriers there to greet you too. Fabulous breakfast provided, even popped out to buy the newspaper for us. We were lucky to have the top floor with its own bathroom, otherwise we would have had to share a bathroom if other guests are there. Take your wellies if you want a tour of the grounds

Perfect peaceful location to explore the Cotswolds, amazing hosts, great with the kids, wonderful breakfast, woodland walks, feeding the resident alpacas... what more could we ask for (apart from turning the pond back into a swimming pool - our boys request!). Great for a family of four as the guest rooms and bathroom are on the top floor so it’s as if you have your own apartment. Beds are very comfy & luxury bed linen. Thank you Giles and Amanda for sharing your beautiful home and for such a fantastic stay x

We had a wonderful couple of days at Lowfield Farm. An idyllic farmhouse and outbuildings set in a lovely part of the world - with lots of animals and a gorgeous woodland walk - making it entertaining for little people. Charming hosts Giles and Amanda made us feel more than welcome. Our 4 year old joined them in the kitchen to make scrambled eggs in the morning. We will certainly be back!

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Giles Preston

  • Lowfield Farm is a mile outside Tetbury, down a long farm lane, set in its own 50 acres of meadows and woods. You can wander all over the farm to visit our sheep, alpacas and chickens. Or just sit in our beautiful garden and enjoy the peace and quiet.
  • Prince Charles' residence, Highgrove, is just down the road - organic produce from the farm can be bought nearby, but to visit the fabulous gardens you need to book ahead on their website. Their store in Tetbury sells many great gifts.
  • Westonbirt Arboretum is a short hop and a wonderful day out for Spring and Autumn colours, learning about thousands of tree species or simply walking in natural woodland.
  • Visit Chavenage House - the film location for Poldark, Tess of the d'Urbervilles and Lark Rise to Candleford. This is a family home that opens its doors to the public several days a week.
  • Tetbury is in the heart of the Cotswolds and a perfect base for visiting the Cotswold villages or enjoying the local walks. There are many public footpaths all around, and one passes close to Lowfield Farm.
  • We are an easy drive from Bath (Roman Villas, Assembly Rooms and great shopping), Bristol (SS Great Britain, the harbour and music events) or exploring beautiful South Wales such as Tintern.
