The
Experience
Where roads end and footpaths spider out over the Jurassic coast, a contemporary barn conversion stands alone, facing the sea. And how! Sea and sky flood through huge glass doors, illuminating clean-cut corner sofas and vibrant cushions that dot the large, contemporary, L-shaped living space. In one corner, a sleek monochrome kitchen has a range cooker, oak dining table and granite-topped island, as much fun for a friends’ celebration as a children’s baking session. Two bedrooms are downstairs, the others up, past Cubist bookcases and glass balustrades. All are identical – no fights for the best! – with warm oak floors, modern prints and Venetian blinds. Bathrooms are head-to-toe in glossy beige. The lawn garden has two terraces for dining out; beyond the fence are endless fields and amazing sea views. Stroll 15 minutes to Chesil Beach, or strike out on breezy walks along the coastal path; bucket-and-spades Weymouth is close and pretty seaside villages have good fish restaurants. There’s a pub in the village but it’s three miles to the nearest shop: nothing interrupts the silence here.

Wans Barton was as lovely as we'd hoped it would be, and we spent a magical Christmas there. The position and views are stunning and , in spite of some exciting wind and storms, the house stayed warm and comfortable. It is well-equipped, beautifully designed and has a high quality finish. The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable and the bathrooms and showers excellent. It was also immaculately clean on our arrival, thanks to Dawn, the friendly and helpful housekeeper. There are lovely nearby walks, the village is pretty but very quiet. I would highly recommend this property.
