The
Experience

There are gentle walks from this thatched cottage along the river Frome valley, and rugged coastal paths nearby. Return to a beautiful sitting room with lots of art and a roaring fire on chilly days – architecture buffs will swoop upon the medieval over mantle and ancient stone archway. Sleep soundly in crisp white linen with thick fabrics at the windows (you are on the road but it’s quiet at night); bathrooms are gleaming. Charming Louise can make anybody feel at home and cooks beautiful, multifarious breakfasts from scratch including her own bread and preserves. Fossils abound and you can track down public gardens too.

Reviews

We spent 2 nights at this most excellent B&B. Our hostess, Louise, was most delightful and welcoming. On arrival we were served a scrumptious tea with home made cake/scones and biscuits. The breakfast was amazing with everything you could wish for. The room also had everything needed, including robes, toiletries, chocolates, fresh fruit, home made biscuits and fresh flowers. A superb find and we would highly recommend!

A very quaint cottage full of delightful family treasures. Such a very large selection for breakfast, and Louise is always on hand to offer advice about the local area. One of the best Sawdays we have stayed in.

Our 2nd visit - we couldn't wait to go back as we had had such a brilliant experience last time! Louise looked after us so well! The cream tea on arrival was a fabulous welcome with homemade scones, meringues & Victoria sponge! Virtually everything at breakfast was homemade including preserves, bread & even tomato sauce! The cooked breakfast with local produce was the best I have ever tasted! The evening meal was the standard of a 5* hotel! We slept in the Crab Apple Room which was beautifully decorated & so comfortable. We will certainly be back again!! Thank you so much, Louise!

We were made so welcome by our lovely host, Louise, for whom nothing was too much trouble. Our room had everything we could have wanted including a TV, super comfy beds with electric blankets and it was a haven of tranquility. The home cooked breakfasts were superb with a huge choice (just what you need on a cold winters day!) We also enjoyed dinner one night which was fine dining in a beautiful setting. We will be back and have no hesitation in recommending this stylish and welcoming home.

This is a superb B&B. Very comfortable beds in a beautiful house. Very welcoming and kind host and fabulous food. In over 30 years of staying in B&Bs in UK this is probably the best we have stayed in

It was our first time staying with Louise in her lovely Tudor Cottage (TC). My wife and I took 3 days out to walk the Dorset coastline and countryside and stayed in TC for 2 nights. Far from the madding crowd TC is in an excellent location for exploring Dorset. Louise is a wonderful host and she made us feel most welcome. Her attention to detail in every respect together with her culinary expertise/talents are second to none. Those who are planning to stay in TC are in for a real treat - I am certainly looking forward to our second visit.

We stayed 21st-24th Oct with Louise at Tudor Cottage and there is no doubt that she provides the best breakfast we have experienced. In particular, she provides: Ten different fruits cut up and served in seperate dishes - the selection changes each day. 7 cereals, including at least four homemade mueslis and granolas. 3 types of nuts in their own containers. 9 different choices of homemade jams and marmalades and also local honey. Homemade tomato sauce and brown sauce, yogurt and assortment of fruit juices, cooked breakfast with local ingredients & she remembered my wife likes Earl Grey tea

Well, where to start to do justice to Louise and her splendid home? It was my birthday and Louise very kindly made me a cake....and cream tea, of course! She gave us advice on where we might eat. Louise simply could not have been more obliging. Her home, the room et al were all charming. Her breakfasts would compare very favourably with anyone's, anywhere! She cooked us dinner one evening and it was simply marvellous. It is her attention to detail that is exemplary. It was a truly wonderful experience staying at Tudor Cottage.

We stayed two nights at Tudor Cottage and if there was a rating above excellent then it would be exceptional! Louise's attention to detail, in every way, would be hard to surpass. We stayed in the room with the four poster bed and the room and ensuite provides you with everything you need and more. The breakfast presentation, quality of food and choice is beyond anything we have experienced. Our evening meal, too, was of the highest order and a complete culinary delight. We strongly suggest you experience it, too! The ambience at Tudor Cottage is truly wonderful!

This is the third time We have stayed at Tudor Cottage. As ever Louise was the most perfect hostess. The scones were as light as a feather. The evening meal was superbly presented and tasted delicious. If you stay here, do have an evening meal. The rooms are most comfortable and have everything for your needs including homemade biscuits and chocolate. I would not hesitate to recommend Tudor Cottage and Louise to anyone. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We knew the minute we walked through the door that this would be a good experience but it surpassed all expectations. Louise gave us the best most delicious gourmet breakfast, I wish we had been able to stay another day. This B and B is so relaxing, comfortable, visually stimulating, the cottage is delightful, the homemade treats irresistible, we can't wait to return.

Romantic Getaway !!!! We searched for 2 whole weeks on line looking for the perfect romantic getaway in Dorset & found it in The Tudor Cottage . Louise the owner is absolutely lovely and rather than a bed and breakfast we felt like honoured guests in her home. The décor is stunning and I can honestly say this IS the best I have ever stayed in , so quaint , so tastefully done . The four poster bed was so comfortable and in the room were fresh flowers, grapes and home made biscuits. The Cream tea that greeted us was sumptuous and as my girlfriend was gluten free. Louise is a Gem :)))))

Clive

Excellent B&B. Exceeded all our expectations.

Margaret

Relaxing and luxurious stay at this small but perfectly formed B&B. The surroundings blend the historical and the modern with quiet and intriguing sophistication. The cream tea by a roaring log fire was a brilliant way to begin. There was attention to detail in every aspect - from home-made jams, marmalades and tomato sauce to the most wonderfully varied offer of fruits- fresh, poached and stewed - for breakfast. The decor, ambience and welcome were memorably great, the chocolate truffles and fresh grapes in the room were delightful.

Jane

Perfection - the very best of many B & B's we have stayed in. Louise's attention to detail in all aspects of our stay was second to none.. Beautiful, most tastefully designed cottage with every thought being given to your stay. Delicious breakfast, beautifully presented. We would not hesitate to recommend this lovely B & B to anyone..

Hilary

A lovely place to stay with the most wonderful fresh fruit breakfasts. Louise provided a very friendly and warm welcome to me and my sister.

Susan

My husband and I have just spent three nights in the lovely Crab Apple Room at Tudor Cottage. Really comfortable beds and lovely touches such as fresh fruit and homemade biscuits. Absolutely delightful, friendly and relaxing place. Louise is a wonderful host and a superb cook. Delicious breakfasts and dinners. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Carole

A stylish country house hotel in a cottage. Very comfortable living room were we ate; very well equipped bedrooms - comfy beds, power showers, piles of soft white towels and bathrobes. Louise has thought of everything. Excellent suppers in house (we had the choice of three menus), bring your own wine. Would we go back? Oh yes.

John

We stayed at Tudor Cottage for 2 nights during the Olympic sailing at Weymouth. It was a very comfortable and relaxing stay. Louise made my husband and I feel very welcome. The breakfast spread was wonderful and we had a superb three course meal on one of the nights which was deserving of a Michelin star. Overall we would say it was one of the best Alastair Sawday's B and Bs we have ever stayed in and would most definitely return.

Beverly

My partner and I had such a wonderful stay at Tudor Cottage. We booked a few days for a summer break from London, and what a relaxing and lovely place we chose! We stayed in the luxurious Tudor Room with a magnificent (and very comfy) four poster bed and very clean and modern en-suite bathroom with a superb power shower (the homemade biscuits in our room were also very much enjoyed.) Breakfasts and the evening meals we had were so tasty, just right. Louise is an excellent cook, and very helpful and knowledgeable on local tips and places to see. Highly recommended, would love to stay again.
