Down through hills, wild heaths and pine forests to Lulworth. Carole and John’s home is set back from the cove in a peaceful lane; artist and garden designer, their 1980s house is a creative treasure, inside and out. The garden has a tropical feel with banana trees, ferns, deep borders and abundant grapes over a pergola. Inside is a sparkling white canvas dotted with colour: paintings, glass vases, antique desk, old grandfather clock, cubist furniture. Garden bedrooms are delightful – one has a king-size bed and opens to its own terrace; continental breakfast is upstairs in the open-plan living space. Walks galore from the door.

A lovely contemporary house in a great location with interesting and creative hosts. Looking forward to returning before long.

Lulworth House is one of the best B&Bs we have stayed at: the Garden Suite stylish, comfortable and spacious with an idyllic little patio bathed in afternoon sunshine - an extra bonus last weekend. John and Carole made us very welcome and provided excellent information about the area.

We loved our stay with John and Carole! Lovely rooms, delicious breakfasts, and a very warm welcome await you. Carole's beautiful artwork is the feature throughout the house, with fresh white walls and lovely furnishings to complete the picture. Lulworth Cove is a short walk away, as is the delectable Limestone restaurant. We enjoyed the Garden Suite room which opens onto John's wonderful garden patio and a most relaxing place to sit and relax. We look forward to returning soon!

Great location, comfortable room, delicious breakfast and very accommodating hosts. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Really enjoyed our stay.

Had a brilliant time , breakfast was amazing, John and Carole were delightful and very knowledgeable re the area. Would recommend to anyone

All you say is spot on. Add friendly and copious advice, including route back to Bristol to take in further stunning view and delicious fish meal on the beach

We arrived from Paris to Lulworth Cove, to be met by our host in his vege patch. Beautiful accommodation, spacious room (we chose the garden room) lovely warm shower with plenty of pressure and stylishly decorated. The bed was very comfortable and we appreciated having a desk to work on.The sofa was delightfully comfortable. John and Carol were wonderful hosts, and we enjoyed our breakfasts, as well as the wonderful advice they gave us of where to go walking and places of interest for us to visit. We had a most memorable visit and much was due to the professionalism of John and Carole.

  • Walk east round Lulworth Cove, past the Jurassic Fossil Forrest along to the beautiful secluded Mupe Bay for a quick dip and then on to the lost village of Tyneham.
  • Hike west over the hills to Oswalds and Man'O'War bays with stunning views of the ancient coastline to then watch the sunset through the iconic Durdle Door.
  • Take the rib ride or the Jurassic Kayaks from the cove round to Durdle Door and see the coast from a different perspective.
  • Discover The Isle of Purbeck, fireworks at Lulworth Castle, revolutions at Corfe Castle, fossils at Kimmeridge, relations at Monkey World, guns at the Tank Museum and so much more.
  • After a hard day Lulworth has good pubs, restaurants, cafés and even the fisherman has a shed selling his lobsters, crabs and fish, all within 5-10 minutes walk!
