Reviews

We had a wonderful stay for 5 nights in this beautiful house. The room was light and immaculate, breakfasts were delicious and we were made to feel so welcome. Poppy is adorable and John and Sarah delightful hosts. We would thoroughly recommend this lovely home.

Anne, Beaconsfield

Sarah and John are the most welcoming couple you could wish to meet. Their home is a delightful luxurious old barm with every comfort for your stay. We were made welcome as soon as we arrived with tea and homemade cake served in their very pretty garden. Poppy and friend soon got to know us with a wag of the tail and a paw up for a stroke. Breakfast is exactly what you hope for, fresh fruit salad, yogurt all types of cereals full English, finish with toast and homemade jam. The area is full of history, fantastic scenery, love,y people all in all a lovely three days. Thank you both.

Sarah and John are the epitome of welcoming hosts and from the moment you walk in Caundle Barn provides a beautiful and relaxing environment. The breakfasts encompass everything from healthy options of granola, fresh fruits, yoghurt to a downright gluttonous full English accompanied by toast, croissants marmalade, jam and lashings of tea and freshly brewed coffee. The bedroom is bright, spacious, warm and luxurious with beautiful crisp bedlinens and a fabulously comfy bed. Overall we couldn’t have wanted for a better place to stay, or a warmer welcome - especially from the lovely Poppy!

Laura, Lorca

We stayed at Caundle Barn for two nights in late September. We received a very warm welcome from Sarah, John and Poppy, their delightful Jack Russell. The B&B is in a beautifully converted barn with a peaceful and pretty garden in the sleepy village of Purse Caundle. We slept very well in our beamed bedroom with its small but efficient shower room. Sarah cooked us really delicious breakfasts in the large family kitchen and booked tables for us at local pubs with excellent meals. Sherborne is close by with its interesting castle and abbey. We are looking forward to another visit.

Marion, Woking

My husband and I had a wonderful weekend stay here with Sarah and John (and Poppy!), we were welcomed into their home, and looked after very well. We had a lovely ensuite room and had an amazing breakfast in the morning as well (fruit, yoghurt, cooked breakfast, croissant, toast, juice, tea), and use of their living room. Sarah and John were extremely helpful with places to eat and visit, and Sarah even booked a table for us for our first night. A truly wonderful place to come and stay and relax and in a lovely location too and we'd love to come back!

Amy, Reading

We had a very lovely stay in Caundle Barn. Sarah is a warm and welcome and the barn is comfortable. The room and bathroom are immaculate and the beds are perfect! We even had a hot water bottle to warm our feet! Breakfast was delicious with fresh fruits and home made jam. We would certainly recommend this B&B!

An absolute gem! I felt so very welcome, relaxed and comfortable in the Howes stunning barn. The en suite double bedroom is perfect and immaculate, as is their garden with uninterrupted views across the fields. Following a most wonderful nights sleep, breakfast was a truly delicious feast: all that you would hope for and more from a talented Cordon Bleu cook! Thank you both for sharing your home and I will be back soonest.

We were warmly welcomed by Sarah and John Howes who immediately made us feel relaxed and refreshed over a delicious afternoon tea in their beautiful garden. Our room was light, immaculately clean with a most comfortable bed. A very good night's sleep was folloed by a fantastic breakfast with more than enough choice all presented to the highest standard. We would certainly recommend this outstanding b&b. Given the opportunity we would certainly stay again. Thank you to Sarah,John and Poppy for a most memorable visit.

We broke our journey to Devon with a most delightful stay at Sarah's immaculate house. Our light filled bedroom was charming and cosy, with luxurious pillows & duvet to ensure the best of sleep. Breakfast the following morning was delicious and it was hard to tear ourselves away. Thoroughly recommended.
