The
Experience

A sweet little escape for two next to owner Tracy’s veg garden; her home and another holiday cottage are nearby but you feel nicely private. The brick building, now extended, once housed pigs but has a retro feel inside with a curved bubble-gum pink wall, vintage Ercol armchairs (facing your own little patch of garden) and a nest of tables, dove grey linen blinds, and a small shower room with a brand new walk-in shower and funky lime green tiles. A sleek kitchen space along one wall has bright white crockery, creamy tiles, two high stools at a bench and all you need for holiday meals, but Tracy is Leith’s trained and happy to pop a delicious meal in your fridge, or deliver you breakfast if you prefer not to bother – just ask! A big bed with a patchwork quilt may tempt you to linger but a vast landscape surrounds you with resplendent hill views that stretch to Dartmoor and Exmoor: you can yomp or cycle (there’s a lockable shed so bring bikes) for miles in any direction, picnic on wide sandy beaches, hop on the Tarka railway line; there’s a fire pit for evenings outside, and a good pub in the village.
