Richard and Ann have a self-sufficient smallholding and blissful retreat. Busy hens and geese are the first to greet you, closely followed by your warm hosts, cream tea in hand.
Slip through the little blue door to an upside-down world of cosy bedrooms peeking over a terrace that’s primed for an early evening G&T. Then upstairs to a big light-drenched living space with views to get your paints out for. Ann’s art and Richard’s inventive farm treasures are dotted about and tucked into a corner is a vast wood-burner.
Richard shows budding farmers the animals and little playground – including his ingenious tubular bells – and wildlife abounds; buzzards, pheasants and the occasional deer.
