The
Experience

Come for birdsong, glorious Peak District views and to stay in cosy boltholes for two. The sheds where farmer Tom once housed his cows are now stylish barns filled with interesting artwork and furniture. The 18th-century exterior walls largely remain, but now light floods through velux windows in each roof and sage green shutters contrast with the creamy stone. Thoughtful Angela bakes a cake for your arrival, subscribes to magazines for both barns and provides free logs for the wood-burner in Tom’s Barn. Douglas’s Barn is full of quirky charm; sink into the chocolate-coloured leather sofa, consult the huge wall map to plot your next big walk. There’s a homely kitchen stocked with Denby crockery and a spiral staircase leading to a romantic bedroom. Original wooden beams endure in Tom’s Barn, a snug retreat with colourful paintings on the walls and an airy double-height sitting room. Wedgwood is the crockery of choice in the country-style kitchen here, while you can stargaze through the skylights from the comfort of your king-sized bed. Wonderful walks and cycle rides are on your doorstep.
