The
Experience

A delightful 18th-century cottage opposite Tideswell church – the ‘Cathedral of the Peak’. Bells ring in the hour while voices from the Tideswell Male Voice Choir drift blissfully over the garden. Oak beams and flagstone floors recall the cottage’s fascinating past, while John and Nikki have introduced modern comforts from an Aga to White Company towels, Laura Ashley bed linen and country antique furniture. A generous welcome hamper including tea, coffee, local handmade sausages, bread and a Tidza pud awaits in the kitchen, which has a sociable table for six. Plump sofas surround a wood-burner stocked with logs in the cosy sitting room. Head up the wide, carpeted staircase to sleep in peaceful bedrooms; doubles have comfy king-size or super king-size beds, while the twin overlooks the church. There’s a spacious bathroom on the first floor and a small shower room up the next flight of stairs. In sunny weather, you can breakfast al fresco in the pretty garden alongside the churchyard. Stroll to pubs and cafés from the front door, or put on your walking boots to explore the Peak District.

Reviews

We had a wonderful week staying in The Cornerhouse. Everything was perfect with lots of added extras, creating a home from home. The house is very well catered for children- stair gate, toilet seat, stool, cot, and lots of lovely books. The dog had a great time too! Nikki’s communication prior to the holiday was fantastic is helping plan a great week. She even organised a surprise Birthday cake for my daughter’s birthday made by the lovely Cherry Tree in the village. We will be back!

A beautiful cosy cottage with spacious bedrooms and everything that you require on tap. The owners have thought of everything to make it feel like a home from home especially when canine friends are in tow! The village of Tideswell has a good selection of restaurants with the Merchants Yard being (in our opnion) the best. It served a variety of exceptional foods from a fabulous taster menu to stone baked pizzas. Tideswell is very convenient for Monsal Head and Castleton.

Tideswell is an ideal base for exploring the Peak District and I highly recommend staying at The Corner House to do so. Owner Nikki was so helpful in advance of and during our stay and the stone and beamed cottage is the perfect place to relax - the beds are super comfortable, the shower good and the kitchen well-equipped. Welcome goodies along with logs for the stove and much more meant we didn't want for anything. The Corner House is also really dog friendly.

Sandra, Lewes

Absolutely gorgeous cottage that we highly recommend. Everything has been thought of and I wouldn't change a thing. Nikki and John couldn't have been more helpful. Tideswell is a fantastic little village and in a perfect location in the Peak District. We had a wonderful holiday, thank you
