The
Experience

Wonderful Peak District walks start from the front door of this cosy little cottage in Alstonefield. Immaculately restored by lovely Rob and Jo, who live further down pretty Church Lane, the old stone house has been transformed into a delightful Derbyshire retreat for two. Switch off from the stresses of work and settle into birdsong and silence. You step into a big, flag-stoned sitting room with a plump sofa positioned in front of a wood-burner generously supplied with logs. There’s a handmade kitchen with smart marble worktops for self-catering, but if you’d rather head out for dinner, the much-loved village pub, The George, is only a two-minute stroll across the green. Gaze out at the glorious Dales from the window seat in the dining room, or in fine weather enjoy a glass of wine (or two!) in the sunny cottage garden. Up the painted staircase a king size bed dressed in luxury linen awaits; you can bathe in style in the en-suite’s roll-top bath. The grandeur of Chatsworth House and Gardens is a half-hour drive, or you can stock up on local goodies at weekly markets in nearby Bakewell and Leek.
