Church Farm Cottage, Church Farm

Heaven for animal lovers, children, peace seekers and walkers. Immaculate interiors and fresh flowers soothe the soul. It’s idyllic!

Sleeps 4

Dreamy views, immaculate interiors and a good pub that’s a 30-minute country stroll – what more could you ask? The cottage originally formed part of the owners’ listed farmhouse, now the ancient farm is managed organically. In the summer the meadows brim with wild flowers and herbs, and the farmyard – where sheep have names – rivals Old MacDonald’s: meet dogs, cats, hens, cows, sheep. Susan’s delightful touch extends inside to shining copper and brass, fresh flowers and examples of her stencils and embroidery. A red sofa and chairs surround the original yet super-efficient range. Floral curtains are in keeping with the cottagey mood, as are oak floors, iron latches on green kitchen cupboards and a traditional white china sink. The attic twin has delightful yellow toile de Jouy bedheads and curtains to match. Add a small, stone-walled cottage garden, an iron table on a lawn and those wonderful views and you have a rural idyll. You can give a helping hand at lambing or harvest time, too!
