The
Experience

Unforgettable. This is a great place for exploring and having fun, swimming and sun bathing on balmy days, or strolling through the gorgeous gardens at any time. Find daffodils and magnolia in the spring, dreamy wisteria in the summer and stunning autumn colour in the ancient woodland. The main house, 500 years old, belongs to the Vyvyan family and is at the heart of this vast project. There is a swimming pool, a spa treatment centre, a stunningly good courtyard restaurant and a pop-up pizza house in the old stables. The whole place is available for wandering. These eco-houses are impressive, and heated centrally by a bio-mass boiler fed by Trelowarren timber (at the rate of two trees a week). The wood-burning stoves take the warmth to the jerseys-off level. The interiors are crisply modern, equipped for any crisis and generous with their space; there is room for supper with the neighbours. It is a fine place for families – a place to discover the great outdoors. The lush south coast is close by, the Helford River too, the Lizard wraps around the estate, and Penzance is a short drive. A paradise for those who love Cornwall.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Kerenza Cooksey

  • The Lizard is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the rugged South West coastline, flora and fauna quite unique to this part of the world.
  • The Historic Estate has been in the family for more than 600 years. With it's ancient Fogou (manmade cave dating back to the iron age), woodland paths and turrets to explore, it has something for everyone.
  • The New Yard Restaurant is the perfect place to eat for a relaxed meal with the family or for a romantic evening dinner for two. Locally sourced food and a welcoming atmosphere makes it one of the best places to eat in Cornwall.
  • Surrounded by stunning Cornish Gardens to visit throughout the year, Trelowarren is perfectly positioned to enjoy the sub tropical plants in every direction.
  • Surrounded by 14 beaches within a ten minute drive, Trelowarren is spoilt for choice for coastal exploring, picnics on the beach, walking and bird watching, sailing and diving, kayaking and rock climbing.
  • The Lizard is the most southerly point on the mainland and is a great place for exploring, look for puffins, spotted fly catcher, chiffchaffs, whitethroats and purple sandpiper.
