The
Experience

This restored mill in a quiet Cornish valley is a relaxed and friendly home. You’ll find tea and cake when you get there, perhaps a drink in the evening. Art and country lovers will fit right in – artist Suzy has her studio in a folly and fills her house with flowers.

Suzy and Jem make their home yours. Sleep in pretty bedrooms, have a convivial breakfast at the long table in the farmhouse kitchen: a locally sourced spread with home-baked bread.

Little ones will love exploring the large garden, home to a spreading chestnut tree planted as a sapling when the Bishops first moved in, while you sit and read in a sunny spot. Suzy’s oil paintings are a reminder of North Cornwall’s nearby stunning coastline.

Location

The neighbourhood

Your closest neighbours are likely to be a passing flock of sheep; the Old Cornmill is surrounded by uninterrupted Cornish countryside. But Port Isaac is only four miles away with several seriously good restaurants and wonderful bracing cliff top walks. It’s two and a half miles to the closest good pub in St. Kew, which has the beautiful St. James church next door.

Introducing

Susan Bishop

Jem is a semi-retired furniture restorer, reflected in the eclectic collection throughout the house. Suzy paints in her spare time, mostly local seascapes, and sells in local exhibitions. They have a friendly Jack Russell, Digby, who welcomes visiting dogs. Jem and Suzy love the tranquillity of their sheltered Cornish spot, and enjoy sharing it with others.
