The
Experience

Step into an open plan living, dining and kitchen space – perfect for relaxing and planning your forays down into the village or out into Cornish countryside. A pine table seats six, and a well-equipped galley kitchen with range cooker means you can cater at the cottage as much or as little as you like. For cooler months, a wood-burner is left ready to light. Upstairs are three bedrooms and one bathroom so it’s best for a family, or for couples who don’t mind sharing. The pretty double room has a Victorian style cast iron bed, there’s a small but comfy twin room and the bunk room has just enough space for the bunk beds! Behind the cottage is a tiny but sunny patio, perfect for romantic sundowners; if you need more space, a gorgeous private garden (which used to be an allotment) about 50 metres away is a sun trap, a real bonus for guests. Your parking space is just under a ten minute walk away but from the cottage itself you are in the heart of Port Isaac and close to shops, and some good cafés and restaurants. Cycling, fishing, swimming, sailing, surfing, golf and walking the coast path are all on tap here too.

Location

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Tamzin Tye

  • Seahorses is situated in the heart of Port Isaac, a charming and authentic fishing village with a working harbour, winding streets and hidden alleyways. And the sheltered beach can offer a world of fun for the kids with numerous rockpools to explore.
  • Port Isaac is a great base from which to explore North Cornwall. Cliff-top walks. Surfing in Polzeath. Daymer Bay, loved by windsurfers, dogwalkers and families alike. And from the beach at Rock you can take the ferry to Padstow.
  • Port Isaac has now been fictionalised as Port Wenn in the TV drama, Doc Martin starring Martin Clunes. You can check out all the familiar locations used. And if you’re lucky, you may even catch them filming!
  • Experience the magical Fishermen’s Friends, who, in spite of their recent fame, still find time whenever possible to sing their irresistible sea shanties on The Platt. Usually most Friday nights during the summer season.
  • Foodies! In addition to the excellent fare of The Golden Lion, The Mote and The Schoolhouse, we now have not one, but two Nathan Outlaw restaurants. The Fish Kitchen right in the harbour and the main restaurant at the top of the village. Book early!
  • And after a hard day holiday-making, why not chill out with a G&T in Seahorses magical hidden garden. Just a few yards away from the cottage and equipped with a table and benches and a bbq, it’s a sunny oasis of calm.
