No shortage of natural entertainment here: a gaggle of waddling ducks, a buzzard hovering overhead, a night-time display by bats, a terrace for a ringside view: for a deep-country setting, these converted farm buildings are surprisingly lively! Badger’s Barn is a show-stopper, combining ultra-green credentials with rustic luxury. Solar panels and geothermal heat ensure energy is renewable, rainwater is harvested, and natural textiles create harmony. This open-plan living space, sleek with limestone flooring, wooden beams and stone walls, is warmly furnished with leather sofas, rugs, leafy plants and a wood-burning stove, and opens to a super kitchen; behind the stone partition is the bedroom, cosy and inviting. Fabulous is the bathroom – a sunken bath, a super wet room, a TV built into the wall. The balcony and terrace have valley views to Fowey, a gentle mile downhill, and charming owner Colin, who lives next door, will drive you if you’re not happily mobile. Beaches, the Coast Path and Saint’s Way are close, the Eden Project and Lostwithiel are not much further. Superb.
