The
Experience

You’re high up here by the dunes with Rock below you and stunning Camel estuary views. This is a light, bright and modern family space with big windows facing the views and a garden which spills down the hill. The open plan kitchen/living area is perfect for cooks on holiday and delightfully convivial – a separate drinks fridge, smart induction hobs, Italian coffee machine and two dishwashers – and a long wooden table with space for all. The sitting area has a log stove for winter warming while the separate snug is for serious telly watchers or loud little ones. There’s a ‘sand de-contamination’ wet room for dumping beachy stuff so no excuses… Up striped stair carpets to uncluttered, airy bedrooms with a nautical feel (two with a balcony) and all except the twin with sea views; bathrooms are shiny and new. There’s no need for your car: walk or cycle to shops, take your pick of trendy foodie places to eat, ferry it to Padstow, hop through the dunes to the beach for picnics and paddles, have yourselves a good old-fashioned English seaside holiday.

Reviews

We had a really fab weekend, filling this lovely house. The position is superb, the layout works so well, they seem to have thought of everything. Would strongly recommend it.

Robin, Chichester

What a wonderful house, so peaceful and comfortable – we loved everything about our stay at Clouds. Being able to walk straight out on the dunes to the beach or to Rock central makes things very easy- and what stunning views through the trees ! Hope to be back next year, thank you.

Robert, Norwich

What a beautiful place. The views across the estuary are stunning and the situation right by the dunes is wonderful for walks. The house is lovely, full of light with huge glass doors in the kitchen/dining room, perfect for both summer and winter stays. I can't think of anything that has not been thought of. We had such a great weekend

Local points of interest from Caroline Cameron

  • WALKING: Clouds is just off the Cornwall coastal path, surrounded by rolling dunes with the sandy bays and cliffs immortalised by John Betjeman - Trebetherick, Daymer, Polzeath within easy walking distance and Trevose, Port Isaac & Tintagel just beyond.
  • WATERSPORTS: A place for all seasons, Clouds overlooks estuary waters that bloom with sails and kites all year round - 2 mins’ walk down the hill to Rock beach and you’re off ! Sail, canoe, paddle-board, waterski, surf - the options here are endless.
  • EATING: Take the ferry to Padstow and enjoy this scenic port which has become a gourmet Mecca for the Best of British food since Rick Stein founded his Seafood restaurant and cookery school; also the start of the very popular Camel Cycle trail.
  • For golfers: St Enodoc Golf club with its practice ranges and the spectacular world-class Church or holiday Holywell courses is right on the doorstep. The Point at Polzeath within 10 mins’ drive or Trevose and Bowood a little further away (35 mins).
  • Prefer pampering? The award-winning Cowshed Spa at Polzeath is 5 mins' drive away offering six luxury treatment rooms and a host of gorgeous options. You could then undo it all (to start again) at the St Moritz' cocktail bar or their clifftop brasserie.
  • Or just relax in Clouds’ garden with its magical, timeless atmosphere. Walk on the dunes amid orchids & evening primrose to the skylark’s endless song. Whatever age, whatever season, take some friends, make up a party - this is a very special place.
