The
Experience

Everything here is beautiful – a stunning Georgian house; views over town that stretch out to sea; bedrooms and bathrooms to rival those in the best designer hotels. All of which would be blossom in the wind without Susan, whose instinct to go the extra mile knows no restraint – this is not just a gorgeous house, but a friendly one, too. Outside, smart red bricks give some idea of the grandeur within, but step inside and find a contemporary wonderland that took two years to refurbish. The hall is home to works from the Newlyn School of Art, the double sitting room has high ceilings, an open fire and a baby grand piano, doors lead onto a balcony and down to a courtyard garden, a peaceful retreat in summer. Bedrooms are hard to fault: white walls soak up the light; handmade beds give a fine night’s sleep; super-chic wet rooms have fabulous showers. One has a wood-burner in the room, another a bath under a glass roof that slides open. There’s much more: delicious kitchen suppers at weekends; cooking demonstrations with local chefs; great restaurants along the road. The magical west coast waits.

Reviews

We had the most wonderful three days with Susan at Chapel House. The breakfasts were outstanding, plus our three course dinner. The house has a very inviting atmosphere and Susan is incredibly generous in all ways. The Art exhibition from the Newlyn School of Art was exciting....this changes once a month. Can't wait for a repeat visit to this very special House.

I stayed for two nights with my husband and two young children. Our room was immaculate and the food was fantastic, especially the homemade cakes! A particular highlight for our two year old son was the bath which was big enough for him to 'swim' in! The views of the boats in the harbour from our room were also a hit. Would highly recommend this hotel both for small families and for a romantic get away.

We had a wonderful stay at chapel house, it is a beautiful building and Susan really goes out of her way to make sure you enjoy your stay there. We stayed in room 6 with our two children and were encouraged to treat the house as a home from arriving (I only wish our own house were as big and beautifully furnished!). Our bedroom was luxurious with a huge bed (super king I think) and a large bathroom in which you can bath under a huge glass roof or even in the open air. Susan prepared a last minute dinner for us which was delicious and breakfast similarly so. We only wish we'd stayed longer.
