The Experience

You’ll fall in love with the views from this sweet cottage on the edge of Coverack. Soak up every drop of sun on the south facing terrace or cosy up in front of the open fire. It’s an easy-going family escape: a huge box of toys in the sitting room, a shed with fishing nets and body boards and a play park beneath the terrace so you can watch the kids run free.

Stroll down to The Lifeboat House for fish and chips on the quay, Paris Hotel for a pint, there’s a small shop open for basics and ice cream; or pop to Helston (12 miles) for more choice and supermarkets. A generous breakfast hamper is left to get you started.

You’re minutes from the coastal path for cliff top walks or take your pick of the beaches: Coverack Beach, a few minutes’ walk behind the cottage, is huge and Mears Beach is a 15-minute walk further along the coast path. Kynance Cove is stunning but gets busy in the summer; try Lankidden Cove (3 miles along the coastal path) or Kennack Sands, 1.5 miles further and has a café.

Reviews

This is the perfect coastal retreat if you want to avoid the car on holiday - tiny Coverack with its pretty harbour, two beaches and lots of great places to eat is a minute's walk down the hill. I loved the old flagstones, the exposed granite walls, the lovely terrace for eating al fresco in summer and the huge windows in the living room for storm watching in winter.

It’s been amazing to stay here! We love all of the caring attention to detail and we’ve trooped the kids around in all weathers to all kinds of amazing places - beaches, Kynance, Bosahan .... it’s just been wonderful. The views of this amazing landscape have been remarkable, and we will be on the road with lots of great memories to take with us.

Rob

The cottage is glorious - so comfortable, with everything we need, and the view is spectacular. We had a relaxing and fun few days - the cottage is such a wonderful and special place to come back to each day. Still dreaming of the view!

Battery Cottage is sublime in every respect, a much loved family home. Captivating sea views views from all the windows and a gorgeous south-facing sun terrace overlooking the water just beckons you to stop and let life roll on by. The cottage itself says come in, come in... it's so charming, totally quirky and feels a real home from home with its gorgeous furnishings and lots of homemade art work and crafts on the walls. I'd defy anyone not to be bowled away by this place, at any time of year, but of course if you do get sunny warm sunshiney days then you'll never want to leave.

Location

The neighbourhood

There's heaps to do without getting in a car: hop on the South West Coast Path at the bottom of the terrace for a 12-mile walk to Helston which takes in dramatic cliffs, fishing villages, woodland and a creek crossing. Coverack has a strong community feel with cafés, a pub and general store, and the beach is perfect for picnicking. Roskilly's farm is a 10-minute drive for ice creams and a gallery.

Introducing

Victoria Reynolds

Victoria lives and works in London but tries to escape here as often as possible with her three boys - she's been visiting this part of Cornwall for years and has immersed herself in the community. She has a good eye for design and has made the house feel beautifully and comfortably homely. You let yourself in but there's a local lady in the village should you need anything.
