The
Experience

The beach is a ten-minute stroll, the cliff path crosses National Trust coastline, the quiet village has a surf school, shop and fish ‘n’ chips: all the ingredients for a terrific seaside holiday. The cottages are part of a horseshoe of stone barns with communal gardens, swings and zip wire, all tucked into a hillside with views over the Vale of Lanherne and out to sea. The conversions are impressive, with underfloor heating, elm floorboards and wonderful woodwork. No. 5’s staircase spirals up to a gallery landing and comfy bedrooms. Soak in a roll top bath; blast away sand under a huge shower head. Downstairs: cosy up by the fire in an open-plan living room; the kitchen and dining table catch the morning sun. Outside: watch the sunset over the bay with an evening drink and gaze up at the ‘living roof’ of flowers. It’s a short drive to the Eden Project or St Ives, but mostly you can leave the car behind. The coastal path stretches to Newquay, Watergate Bay and Padstow (good bus service, too) and there’s a friendly farm shop down the valley on your way to the ancient village of St Mawgan.

Reviews

A wonderful, cosy cottage where we really felt at home immediately. Nice view over the valley down to the sea, and not far away from the beach and the village center with a small shop, coffee bars and a pub. Lot's of space outside, great for children to play. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Booking, payment, instructions and communication were easy all the time. It is a great place to stay, and we can only recommend it as an absolutely lovely family cottage for holidays in Cornwall. Thanks, Carol, for everything!

This cosy cottage is the perfect place for a family holiday. Our kids loved the short ramble down to the beach, along a scrubby country path dotted with butterflies and also remarkably tame wild rabbits. At the beach, our eight-year-old got stuck in with surfing - with the help of the fabulous local surf school - and was standing up on her board in her first lesson! We stayed in June, but the weather was changeable, so we happily made good use of the small open fire. We also had the best fish I've ever eaten from the local fishmonger who calls weekly at the cottage.

This place is a piece of paradise. We've had such an amazing time. Carol has always been very helpful making sure she would accommodate our needs as we were traveling with babies. The cottages are something out of this world. Very cosy,, everything very clean and tidy, the decoration is of such a good taste!!! The kids had such a great time outside, playing with the zip wire, running about.. The view will take your breath away, beautiful sunset from here. Overall, the only downside is that we had to leave after 5 days going back to London. We'll be back one day, I can't wait! Thank you Carol

We stayed at 5 & 6 for a wonderful 10 day holiday with the family. The cottages are beautiful and comfy, everything you need for a relaxing break in idyllic surroundings, bathroom in no 5 is five star !! Highly recommended!

This was the perfect long weekend treat my partner and I were looking for. We arrived late on the Friday night, but this made it all the more exciting to wake up to glorious views from bed, looking out to sea, and across the cliffs. The area has some great walks- we were lucky with the weather- but also lots of lovely things to do on rainy days. The cottage was just fab for hanging out in and relaxing- we enjoyed cooking in the lovely kitchen, relaxing in the bath, and most of all being cosy when it was so cold out. Honestly, just heaven. I want to go and live there!

A lovely homely cottage. The owners have taken a lot of care and thought in renovating this let. We had a wonderful time. Kids age 5 and 7 loved the art hut and made lots of friends. They were able to play and wander around safely so it felt like stepping back in time where children can put down technology and just be. Cottages have a communal feel with the others on site and the atmosphere is very relaxed. We loved this cottage and would happily recommend it and would go back. The views from the master bedroom to the sea is beautiful. It's also a great location.

Introducing

Carol & Peter Misch

Carol, Peter and their now grown-up children used to rent whichever of the cottages was available from the owners, who had bought and developed the farm buildings in the 1930s. They came for the beach and surf and when the cottages came up for sale just had to buy them. Using talented craftsmen to build the internal woodwork and guided by Peter’s very specific eye for detail they created two uncluttered cottages perfect for summer and winter stays.
