The Experience

Alderney is pristine – miles of sandy beaches, ancient coastal forts, cliff-top walks and nature trails, wild flowers and migrating birds. It’s a slice of heaven and where else to stay than this quirky island bolthole, part village inn, part restaurant with rooms, part friendly chic hotel. After 30 years holidaying here, Holly’s family bought one of their favourite places, whipped it into shape and now it’s the beating heart of the island, a magnet for locals and visitors alike. It sits on St Anne’s cobbled high street, opposite the art-house cinema; filmgoers sneak over for drinks in the interval. Downstairs, the bar comes with wooden floors, an open fire and lots of gossip. An airy restaurant spills onto a sun-trapping courtyard in summer, a fine spot for the freshest seafood, delicious steaks, island ice creams. Bedrooms – some in the hotel, others across the road in sister hotel, The Victoria – are just the ticket: not huge, but deeply comfy, with lovely beds, the odd stone wall and cute bathrooms. Hire bikes, grab a picnic, laze about on the beach. Night skies amaze. A perfect island adventure.

Reviews

We too have holidayed to Alderney over 30 years...The Georgian is always visited plenty of times while we are there , the food is always of a very good standard, Locals and holiday makers alike are so friendly. I even left my jumper there one year , it was still on the peg the next year we went - priceless...

Linda, Southampton

This is on of the best places we have stayed in, food outstanding, accommodation so very comfortable and very clean. Staff very friendly. We have been there twice in 2013 & 2014, we are going back next year.

Local points of interest from The Georgian House

  • Exploring Alderney is a pure delight !It offers over 50 miles of walks across commons, beaches, cliffs and the town. Alderney has a fascinating history that is prominently displayed around the island, with plenty of old forts and bunkers to explore
  • Hire a bicycle! Alderney has the most incredible, scenic beaches on your door step! Either walk 10 mins down the hill from the Georgian to the nearest beach - Braye, or hire a bike and explore some other glorious beaches a bit further afield.
  • To taste the food here is worth a visit to The Georgian House alone! With locally and sustainably sourced seafood and meat on our doorstep, paired with some top chefs, you will struggle to find it fresher and this delicious elsewhere!
  • There is an abundance of rare and interesting wildlife that are unique to Alderney and cannot be found on mainland Britain! Hop on one of the boat trips to see the Puffins or watch out for the cute blonde hedgehog at dusk
